Real-Time Air Microbial Detector Rapid-C+
Unique bio-fluorescent particle counter merging innovation and legacy standards
Rapid-C+, a unique real-time viable counter, sets the industry standard in environmental monitoring. It counts viable and total particles in real time and continuously samples them on standard agar plates for microbial identification. This way, production interruptions can be minimized, and production batches can be released more quickly in the event of a negative result for viable particles. Rapid-C+ is therefore perfect for aseptic production and especially suitable for gloveless isolators or intervention-free environments.
Thanks to its patented, state-of-the-art laser technology based on light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy, Rapid-C+ provides the highest sensitivity and specificity for real-time microbial detection, including bacteria, mold, yeast and spores. Also known as an advanced biofluorescent particle counter (BFCP), Rapid-C+ offers a unique approach to environmental monitoring by combining innovative technology with a traditional active air sampling method.
- Fully automatic method with hands-free operations in Grade A
- Accurate control of air contamination with immediate response to excursions enables the retention of unaffected sub-batch
- Continuous air monitoring of total particles and viable particles, combined with microbial identification on agar plate
- Immediate timestamped alert on microbial detection
- Optical analysis counts viable and total particles, capturing everything on to the active air sampler of Rapid-C+
- Allows implementation of a contamination control strategy in compliance with EU GMP Annex 1 standards
- Patented high-resolution laser technology with fluorescent spectroscopy, certified multi-jet impactor for active sampling on standard agar plates, and advanced optical classification to discard fluorescent interference

ALL-IN-ONE SOLUTION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING
Rapid-C+ combines three methods
All monitoring is done on the same air flow:
- Real-time total particle count (TPC)
- Real-time viable particle count (VPC)
- Continuous active air sampling enabling CFU counting and identification of potential contamination
How BFPC works
Biofluorescent particle counters (BFPCs) take a sample of ambient air containing various suspended particles, including biological particles such as bacteria, mold spores and pollen, which are then fed into the sampling chamber. Depending on whether they are biological or inert particles, they trigger a pulse with the UV laser. Biological particles contain naturally fluorescent components and emit fluorescence when excited by the laser. Inert particles on th other hand scatter the laser light without emitting fluorescence.
Rapid-C+ detects viable particles and classifies them against other organics (interferent materials). Rapid-C+ uses UV excitation wavelength that covers absorption bands of most of microorganisms.
